Two sides to the story

Jfeed Reporter's Exclusive Coverage of Yesterday's Haredi Protests in Jerusalem

I happened to walk past the demonstrations yesterday and I was honestly freaked out by the sheer disrespect for Jerusalem and its residents shown by the protesters. I had to keep reminding myself that they are a fringe minority of all Haredim.

A disturbing video from last night’s protest by the Jerusalem Faction near the Chords Bridge entrance to Jerusalem shows a driver accelerating his vehicle directly into a group of ultra-Orthodox demonstrators, dragging one protester on the hood of his car for hundreds of meters while others screamed for him to stop.

A complete different perspective from a witness

I was on the scene, and I witnessed something completely different, a woman desperate to get through with Haredi protesters blocking the traffic, begging the police to intervene while a protester blocked her car with his body, with many other protesters milling around, some in their early teens, if that.

The entire city basically came to a standstill. Elderly people were not able to use busses or the light rail as a result and it was an extremely hot day, resulting in many people struggling with heavy parcels, lugging them home on foot (or waiting for hours in the oppressive heat).

The protesters got loud and aggressive. The police were clearly under orders not to respond and the Haredi protesters couldn't give a hoot about the mayhem they were causing or the insanely disgraceful Chilul Hashem.

Sadly, the people to blame are the leaders of the extreme Jerusalem Faction, whose followers just don't care about other Israelis. A very sad state of affairs indeed.
