Fort Stewart in Georgia is experiencing an active shooter situation just now (Wednesday). Casualties have been reported, though no further details have been provided at this time.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp had this to say on the ongoing incident on X:

"As we remain in close contact with law enforcement on the ground, Marty, the girls, and I are saddened by today’s tragedy at Ft. Stewart. We are keeping the victims, their families, and all those who answer the call to serve in our hearts and prayers, and we ask that Georgians everywhere do the same."

Five soldiers have been shot according to authorities, though no-one has been killed, according to CNN. One suspect is in custody and there is a possible second suspect holed up in a room on the base.

White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said that President Trump has been informed of the shooting and that they are monitoring the situation.

ABC News reports that the five wounded soldiers are being transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah for treatment.

This is a developing story.
