The next storm? The law was submitted to qualify an exemption from recruiting ultra-Orthodox

A day after the approval of the law to reduce the clause for reasonability, the Knesset members of Torah Judaism put forward the "Basic Law: Torah Study", which is supposed to legalize the exemption of ultra-Orthodox yeshiva members from enlisting in the IDF.

The purpose of the law is to present as a fundamental law the value of studying the Torah, and thus it will stand on the same "constitutional level" as the "Basic Law: Human Dignity and Freedom" and other fundamental laws and will reduce the High Court's ability to invalidate laws that exempt ultra-Orthodox from military service.
