TEL AVIV — In a shocking development, authorities have arrested a Kaplan protest activist suspected of planning to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu using a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG). The arrest follows a lengthy investigation by the Israel Police's International Serious Crimes Unit and the Shin Bet security agency.

The suspect, a woman in her seventies from Tel Aviv, allegedly expressed her intent to kill Netanyahu and reached out to other protest participants in an effort to obtain weapons. According to investigators, she inquired about acquiring a rocket launcher and attempted to gather intelligence on the prime minister’s security arrangements.

The investigation concluded earlier this week, and the case has been forwarded to the State Prosecutor’s Office for further action.

Political Reactions

Opposition leader Yair Lapid quickly condemned the alleged plot:

"I strongly condemn the attempt to harm Prime Minister Netanyahu. Anyone involved must face the full weight of the law."
