MK Dan Illouz: Here's what's wrong with the ceasefire deal
Likud MK Dan Illouz said that he will use every means at his disposal to correct the emerging decision to agree to a ceasefire in the north.
Likud MK Dan Illouz responded on X today (Monday) to reports that a ceasefire deal is close to completion in the north, arguing that the deal is a bad one and that he intends to do everything he can to change it.
In his post, he said that "the next round" with Hezbollah is only a matter of time and that the ceasefire deal fails to translate Israel's "incredible" tactical success including the pager operation and the assassination of Nasrallah into long-term strategic gains.
Illouz said that the deal involves an IDF withdrawal within 60 days and their replacement by the Lebanese Army - which he said is controlled by a government greatly influenced by Hezbollah.
The only other things Israel gains, according to Illouz, are an "international complaints department" he says will lead nowhere, and a letter of commitment from the United States supporting Israel in the event Hezbollah violates the deal - which Illouz says is useless after the famous Bush-Sharon letter was ignored by the Obama administration.
