Al Arabiya: "Hamas Leader Khaled Mashal Confirmed Killed in Israeli Airstrike"
Saudi network Al Arabiya reports Mashal was killed in an Israeli strike on Doha, while Hamas and Qatari outlets insist the leadership survived.

Saudi-based Al Arabiya has claimed that Khaled Mashal, head of Hamas, was killed in the Israeli airstrike in Doha. The outlet states he was targeted a meeting of senior Hamas leaders, resulting in multiple deaths, including Mashal’s.
Meanwhile, Qatari media and outlets like Al Araby have reported that the Hamas negotiating team survived the attack.
Hamas officials, in statements to Al Jazeera, confirmed that while casualties occurred, the group’s leadership, including Mashal, remained alive. In the past of course, they refused to admit death of leaders, until it became inevitable.
Born in 1956 in the Judea and Samaria, Mashal rose to prominence as chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau from 1996–2017 and has served as acting leader on several occasions. He famously survived a Mossad assassination attempt in Jordan in 1997, which involved a poisoned injection.
He was rescued after Jordanian authorities compelled Israel to provide the antidote, in what was a major diplomatic incident on Jordanian soil.
Mashal is known for his political influence both within Hamas and in the broader Arab world.
While Al Arabiya reports Mashal’s death, no verifiable confirmation exists. Both Qatari media and Hamas claim he is alive, and independent outlets remain cautious, with some stating he was likely not present during the strike or is yet unaccounted for.
