A grotesque scene unfolded outside UN headquarters in New York, where pro-Palestinian activists staged a soccer match using a replica of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s severed head in place of a ball. The act was orchestrated by the extreme group INDECLINE ahead of the UN General Assembly’s 80th session. The hyper-realistic model of Netanyahu’s head was created by Spanish artist Eugenio Merino.

At the same time, 1,200 filmmakers and television creators, including Oscar and Emmy winners such as Olivia Colman, Yorgos Lanthimos, Josh O’Connor, and Ayo Edebiri, signed a declaration pledging to boycott cooperation with Israeli institutions. The signatories accused Israeli cultural and state institutions of being “complicit in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people.”

Meanwhile, General Motors (GM) announced the appointment of Sirin Abu-Shakra as its new global head of philanthropy. Abu-Shakra claims Israel was “a state built on lies that justify ongoing barbaric behavior,” is an “apartheid state,” and that pro-Israel actors “planted” pro-Hamas protests in the U.S.

GM, which maintains extensive business ties with Israel, has not issued a comment on the revelations.
