U.S. government officials warned representatives of the Jewish communities in the U.S. during closed talks about an "increased threat" following the war between Israel and Iran, according to a report by Channel 12.

Eric Fingerhut, president and CEO of the Jewish Federations of North America, told N 12: "One of the ways Iran might respond to Israeli actions is to activate its terror network around the world, as they have done in the past." He further stated: "This comes on the heels of an increased warning about threats to Jewish communities after the anti-Semitic attacks."

"Israel's actions against Iran have internal consequences for American Jewry. Community leadership needs to ensure that every institution takes the risk seriously and that every event is secure and protected. This is our concern - to make sure everyone takes the security issue seriously," the president of the federations said.

About a month ago, a deadly shooting occurred outside the Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., during an event by the American Jewish Committee (AJC). Yaron Lishinski and Sarah Milgram, two employees of the Israeli embassy in Washington, were murdered in the brutal attack. The police arrested the shooter, and the incident took place near the offices of the FBI and the U.S. Attorney General.
