A Tel Aviv court on Thursday partially approved the police request to extend the detention of Haim Rotter, a well-known figure in the Haredi community, suspected of serious criminal offenses. Rotter will remain in custody until next Tuesday.

Police had requested a 15-day extension—an unusually long detention request even for complex investigations—but the court granted only six additional days.

Rotter did not attend the court hearing in person and instead appeared via remote video link from the detention facility where he is being held.

So far, 11 formal complaints have reportedly been filed with police against Rotter. According to sources, he has partially admitted to involvement with some of the complainants but denies any criminal wrongdoing.

Earlier this week, Ynet published a televised interview with one of the complainants, Yossi Rubinfeld, who chose to speak on camera. The details he shared were described by the outlet as too disturbing to publish in full.

Prominent Names Involved

Rotter's wife was also detained in connection with the case, questioned under caution, and later released to house arrest. A prominent Haredi rabbinic figure and an additional “significant individual” have reportedly been summoned for questioning.

Earlier this week, police arrested five other Bnei Brak residents linked to the investigation. Some were later released to house arrest.

Journalist Aaron Rabinowitz of Haaretz reported Sunday that Rotter is being held under strict surveillance due to concerns about his mental state and possible suicide risk.

Rotter was arrested last weekend at Ben-Gurion Airport after returning from abroad, where he had been staying for three weeks following the first reports about the case. He was taken directly into custody for interrogation. The investigation is being conducted by the Ramat Gan–Bnei Brak precinct in the Tel Aviv district. His identity was made public last weekend following a court decision to lift the gag order.
