Beloved Actress Hani Furstenberg Returns to Israel After a Decade: “I’m Excited”
Acclaimed actress Hani Furstenberg returns to Israel after a decade abroad, starring in Cameri Theater's Cabaret and Kan 11's new drama series B'Hasturah. Learn about her homecoming.

After spending ten years building an international career abroad, acclaimed actress Hani Furstenberg is making a highly anticipated return to the Israeli stage. The 45-year-old actress, who left Israel to pursue opportunities in the United States, has now been cast in the upcoming production of Cabaret at the Cameri Theater in Tel Aviv.
Furstenberg will take on the role of the iconic dancer Sally Bowles, reprising a character she first performed in a prestigious Broadway production a decade ago, where she shared the stage with stars including Emma Stone, Alan Cumming, and Aaron Chern.
“I’m thrilled to return to my romance with this show, here, at home, in Israel,” Furstenberg said, reflecting on the personal significance of her comeback.
Cabaret, the classic musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb, was originally premiered in 1966 and became a cultural phenomenon. Its 1972 film adaptation earned eight Academy Awards and cemented the story’s place in musical theater history.
In addition to her stage return, Furstenberg will appear in a new drama series on Kan 11 titled B’Hasturah (In Secret). The show explores the lives of a group of ultra-Orthodox men and women leading double lives: outwardly conforming to their community’s strict religious norms, while secretly pursuing freedom and rebellion from traditional expectations.
Furstenberg’s return marks a full-circle moment in her career, reconnecting her with the Israeli audience after years of international success, and signaling a new chapter in both her stage and screen work.
