Spanish pop icon Rosalía has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding her silence on the Israel-Gaza conflict, after fashion designer Miguel Adrover refused to collaborate with her due to her lack of public support for Palestinians. In a heartfelt message, the singer expressed sorrow over the ongoing violence and defended her choice to speak in her own way.

“This may not be enough for everyone, but it is my truth,” Rosalía wrote. “The fact that I haven’t used my platform in a way that fits other people’s expectations doesn’t mean I don’t condemn what’s happening in Palestine. It is horrific to see innocent people being killed day after day and equally horrific to witness the inaction of those responsible for preventing it.”

Rosalía also took aim at Adrover’s decision to publicly shame her. “I don’t see how embarrassing one another is the best way to advance the fight for Palestinian freedom,” she said. “We should be pointing the finger upward, toward those in power, not at each other.”

The backlash began when Adrover posted an email exchange revealing that Rosalía’s team had contacted him to design a custom outfit. His team declined, stating: “Miguel does not work with artists who have not publicly supported Palestine.”

In a follow-up message, Adrover wrote: “Silence is complicity, especially when you have a massive microphone and millions of people listening when you sing. That’s why you have a responsibility to use your voice to condemn genocide. It’s not personal. I admire your talent and achievements. I believe you're more than just another entertainer focused on business and fame. Now is the time to do the right thing.”
