Levi Yitzhak Leizerowitz, a 21-year-old Tiberias resident and Breslov Hasid, was killed in a boating accident off the coast of Eilat yesterday, which also injured nine others. The young father leaves behind his parents, wife, and one-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred when a boat carrying 12 passengers made a sharp, high-speed turn, ejecting everyone into the water. According to Israel Police, two passengers sustained moderate injuries, while seven others were lightly injured.

They were all were transported to Yoseftal Medical Center in Eilat for treatment. Leizerowitz was pulled unconscious from the sea, and despite prolonged resuscitation efforts by Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The boat’s operator, an Eilat resident in his 20s, was detained for questioning and later arrested. Earlier today, the Eilat Magistrates Court extended his detention by four days as authorities investigate whether safety protocols were adhered to and if the boat was operating legally.

MDA EMT Eli Vaknin, who was near the scene, described the chaotic response: “Boats brought a man of about 40 to us, but his injuries were severe, and we had to pronounce him dead. We also treated two men in moderate condition, one with chest and abdominal injuries, another with a severe foot injury, and seven others with mild injuries who were quickly evacuated.”

Zohar Masas, Leizerowitz’s brother-in-law, shared a heartfelt eulogy on Facebook: “My dear brother-in-law, what a loss. A little brother, the jewel in the crown. My heart is broken. I will never forget you.”
