An exclusive recording obtained by a news outlet has shed new light on the extent of the terror groups' influence in the Gaza Strip. The audio features a Nukhba terrorist, captured about two weeks ago, speaking with an Israeli security interrogator. In the recording, the operative makes a startling admission: he claims that a vast majority of Gaza's residents are members of terrorist organizations.

"About 70 percent of the people in Gaza belong to Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, the most famous organizations we have, and they control the area," the operative is heard saying. He added, "Everyone belongs to Hamas and the Islamic Jihad." This statement offers a rare and candid perspective from within the terror group on the widespread membership and support for such organizations among the local population.

The operative also provided his personal assessment on the sentiments of the Gazan people. He estimated that if given the opportunity to leave, 70% of Gaza's residents would emigrate to other countries. "Most of Gaza, if they had the chance to leave for Egypt, it wouldn't change anything for them. The main thing is to get out of the oppression of Hamas that we have in Gaza," he said. This comment suggests a deep-seated frustration among the populace with the terror group's rule and its control over their lives.

The recording provides a unique window into the inner workings of the terror groups and their relationship with the civilian population. It supports the view that the line between civilian and combatant in Gaza is blurred, and that the terror groups have a pervasive presence throughout the Strip. The operative's statements regarding the desire of Gazans to leave also hint at a widespread dissatisfaction with the current situation and the conditions they live under.
