Following precise intelligence obtained by Israeli Military Intelligence and a fleeting operational opportunity overnight, Israeli Air Force fighter jets struck a manned command center in central Tehran and killed Ali Shadmani, the “Chief of War,” Iran’s highest-ranking military officer and one of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s closest confidants.

Shadmani served as Chief of War and Commander of the Iranian Armed Forces' Emergency Command. He oversaw both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iran’s regular army.

He was appointed to lead Iran’s armed forces at the onset of Operation "Like a Lion," after his predecessor, Alam Ali Rashid, was killed in the campaign’s opening strike.

The emergency war headquarters “Khatam al-Anbiya,” under his command, is responsible for managing combat operations and authorizing Iranian strike plans. In his various roles, Shadmani had a direct hand in orchestrating Iranian missile operations against Israel.

Before his appointment, Shadmani served as Deputy Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya emergency headquarters and head of the Operations Directorate of the Iranian General Staff.

His killing marks another blow to Iran’s military command hierarchy and follows a string of high-profile assassinations targeting the regime’s top generals.
