IDF Eliminates 7 Terrorists in Gaza Who Were Released in the Shalit Deal
Late closure of the circle: The Shin Bet and IDF eliminated 7 terrorists from Hamas's military wing who murdered Haim Karman z"l and killed Staff Sergeant Ehud (Udi) Tal z"l and were released in the Shalit deal.

Cleared for publication: In a joint operation by the General Security Service and the IDF during the past week, the terrorists who murdered civilian Haim Karman z"l in Jerusalem and killed soldier Staff Sergeant Ehud (Udi) Tal z"l at the Dotan checkpoint were eliminated. The terrorists were deported to the Gaza Strip as part of the "Shalit deal."
The terrorist Riad Asila, an operative in Hamas's military wing, was a member of the "West Bank headquarters" – the executive arm of the Hamas terror organization in Gaza for carrying out attacks in Judea and Samaria territories. The terrorist carried out, together with another Hamas terrorist who was eliminated in the strike, Bassam Abu Snina, the stabbing attack in 1998 in Jerusalem in which civilian Haim Karman z"l was murdered. After his deportation, Asila was active in the "Jerusalem Department" of the Hamas terror organization, responsible for recruiting terrorists from East Jerusalem and promoting operations of the Hamas terror organization against the State of Israel.
In the strike, terrorist Mahmoud Saria was also eliminated, who carried out the stabbing attack at the Dotan checkpoint in 1996 in which soldier Staff Sergeant Ehud (Udi) Tal z"l was killed.
In the strike, seven terrorists from Hamas's military wing were eliminated who had previously operated in Judea and Samaria and were deported to the Gaza Strip as part of the "Shalit deal."
The seven terrorists were convicted during the Second Intifada of involvement in murderous attacks and were sentenced to lengthy prison terms, before being deported to the Gaza Strip as part of the "Shalit deal." Even after their deportation, the operatives fulfilled roles in the "West Bank headquarters," within which they operated divided into regional committees that were responsible for promoting attacks in Judea and Samaria territories, including through the transfer of combat equipment and funds to terrorists.
The General Security Service and the IDF will continue to act to thwart terror operations against the State of Israel and its citizens.
