The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is intensifying preparation for reservists called up for a planned military offensive in Gaza City, known as Operation Gideon’s Chariots B. The move comes amid growing operational demands and a phased draft aimed at tens of thousands of reservists.

Over the coming weeks, troops will engage in both open-terrain and urban combat exercises designed to sharpen readiness across Gaza. Advanced equipment, including drones assigned to company- and platoon-level commanders, has been distributed to bolster tactical capabilities in the field.

In addition to operational training, the IDF has upgraded infrastructure to support the large-scale call-up. New firing ranges, air-conditioned accommodations, and hot-water showering facilities have been established to improve the quality of life for reservists during training.

The Technology and Logistics Directorate is providing comprehensive support covering personal gear, vehicle maintenance, daily logistics, and both medical and mental health services. These enhancements aim to ensure reservists are fully equipped for the demanding mission ahead.

Yesterday marked the first wave of the draft, with tens of thousands of reservists reporting for duty. Reports indicate turnout was lower than expected, underscoring the challenge of mobilizing such a large force for a high-stakes urban operation.

With preparations underway, the IDF says it is committed to maintaining operational readiness while supporting the welfare of its personnel in advance of the Gaza City offensive.
