"No Divine Protection”

Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Diner, a prominent halachic authority and the rabbi of Divrei Shir synagogue in Bnei Brak, made a dramatic statement during a recent Torah lecture, claiming that the Iranian missile that struck a school in the Pardes Katz neighborhood was divinely orchestrated as a result of Sabbath desecration that occurred decades ago.

Referring to the missile attack that shook the city during the recent war with Iran, Rabbi Diner said: “Everything from Heaven is precise — every explosion, every missile, every impact is exact.”

He then revealed what he believes to be the spiritual cause behind the missile strike: “I was told by the mashgiach of Tiferetah, the righteous Rabbi Noach Palai, that about 40 years ago the concrete foundation of that very school was poured on Shabbat. That’s it. That’s the answer. When Shabbat is violated, there is no divine protection. Everything is measured.”

Rabbi Diner then shifted to reflect on the spiritual atmosphere felt during the war, recalling a story involving the late Rabbi Elazar Menachem Shach during the Gulf War. A young American yeshiva student asked Rabbi Shach whether he should return to the US during the conflict. The rabbi insisted he remain in Israel. Years later, the student returned and recounted that he continued his Torah studies diligently even while abroad.

Rabbi Shach reportedly replied, “I knew you would continue learning, but had you stayed in Israel, you would have had Torah and closeness to God. That closeness is what you missed.”

Rabbi Diner concluded, “That’s what we felt in these past days — true closeness to God.”
