A Mother’s Agony: Three Sons Wounded in Gaza War
Israeli mother Orit Levi faces unimaginable pain as all three of her sons, serving in IDF combat units, have been wounded in the ongoing Gaza war.

Orit Levi, a mother from Israel, is reeling after all three of her sons, who serve in IDF combat units, were wounded in the ongoing war in Gaza. The family shared a gut-wrenching update about their youngest, Elkana, who was badly hurt in combat yesterday Monday and now faces a tough road to recovery. Orit is asking everyone to pray for him, marking the third time her family has been personally affected by the war.
Elkana came out of surgery Monday night and is now in the ICU, sedated and on a ventilator. The family says he lost one leg above the knee and the other below, and shrapnel hit his left eye. Doctors removed the fragment and are hopeful his eye will heal. “Elkana’s got a long fight ahead, but we believe in him and in God’s help,” the family posted on Facebook, calling for prayers for “Elkana ben Orit.” They added a Bible verse, saying, “The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace,” and thanked supporters for standing by them.
Orit’s oldest son, Rachamim Yishai, took a serious hit to the face near Zikim Beach on October 7, 2023, while battling Hamas terrorists who came in by sea. Her second son, Yedidya, was also wounded in combat but bounced back after a long rehab at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. He’s now back in action as a deputy battalion commander. In a February interview on 103FM Radio, Orit called Rachamim’s survival a “miracle,” saying rehab was less about recovery and more about growth for him. She described Yedidya as a fighter who “never whines, just keeps pushing for the next mission.”
