A 14-year-old boy was arrested by northern district police officers after allegedly attacking a 15-year-old peer with a wooden stick on Tiberias’s promenade last Thursday.
According to police, the incident occurred in the afternoon when the suspect approached the victim from behind and struck him forcefully in the head before fleeing the scene. The assault reportedly followed a verbal altercation between youths in the area.
The injured teen initially received treatment for head trauma at the Ziv Medical Center in Safed, before being transferred in serious condition to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.
After a 24-hour manhunt, police located and arrested the suspect on Friday. His detention was extended by the Nazareth Magistrate’s Court until Tuesday as the investigation continues.
In a statement, Israel Police called on parents to take greater responsibility:
“During the summer vacation, we urge all parents to stay alert to their children’s behavior. Preventing their involvement in violent incidents can avoid severe injuries, loss of life, and criminal charges.”
