Billionaire Mark Cuban is throwing shade at New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, calling his lefty platform of rent freezes and city-run grocery stores a load of hot air.

On the “Pod Save America” podcast Sunday, the former Dallas Mavericks owner didn’t mince words: “We’re cutting rents, right? We’re changing grocery stores. None of that s–t has a chance.” Cuban’s latest jab adds him to a growing list of business bigwigs sounding the alarm over Mamdani’s campaign.Cuban’s Beef with Mamdani

Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist, has been making waves with promises to freeze rent on stabilized apartments and launch city-owned grocery stores that dodge rent and property taxes to keep prices low. Sounds nice, right? Not to Cuban, who likened Mamdani’s lofty pledges to President Donald Trump’s infamous claim that Mexico would foot the bill for a border wall. “This guy is walking in telling me he’s going to walk on water,” Cuban scoffed on the podcast, arguing both Mamdani and Trump lean on flashy promises that don’t survive a reality check.

In an email to The New York Post, Cuban doubled down: “Donald taught politicians that what you promise for today, might get you elected for a lifetime.” He contrasted Mamdani’s tactics with traditional Democrats who “want to teach the world to fish,” while Trump—and now Mamdani—offer “a fish stand on every corner” with no clear plan to deliver. Cuban, a non-NYC resident, says he’s not endorsing anyone but can’t help noticing the “obvious” similarities between Mamdani’s and Trump’s campaign playbooks.

Mamdani’s rise has Wall Street and corporate titans in a tizzy. Hedge fund mogul Bill Ackman’s been blasting the candidate’s “socialist” agenda, while Elon Musk and venture capitalist David Sacks warn his policies could drive business out of the city. JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon called Mamdani “more of a Marxist than a socialist,” and grocer John Catsimatidis threatened to pull his Gristedes chain if Mamdani wins. Real estate heavyweights like SL Green’s Marc Holliday and developers Kenneth and Maria Fishel are bankrolling Mamdani’s opponents, hoping to stop his momentum.

Mamdani’s response? He’s all for working with “everyone, including billionaires,” to make NYC fairer. But with Cuban and the elite piling on, it’s clear the mayoral race is shaping up to be a bare-knuckles brawl.
