Nancy Mace Wants Ilhan Omar Gone
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) announced her plan to file a privileged resolution to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and remove her from her House committee assignments. The move comes in response to Omar's disgraceful comments following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) announced late yesterday (Monday) that she will file a privileged resolution Tuesday to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and strip her of her House committee assignments, citing Omar's disgraceful comments following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
In a post on X, Mace wrote: "Free speech isn't free from consequences. Tomorrow, we are filing a PRIVILEGED motion to censure Ilhan Omar and remove her from her committees. This will force a vote. Half measures are not enough any more. Ilhan Omar is not compatible with our American values. She has no place in Congress and should be admonished." The post included a video clip reiterating the announcement and has garnered over 55,000 likes and 5.7 million views as of this morning (Tuesday).
Mace's resolution (filed on September 15) specifically targets Omar's service on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and the House Committee on the Budget. It accuses Omar of smearing Kirk in a September 11 interview on Zeteo Town Hall with Mehdi Hasan, implying he was to blame for his own murder, and reposting a video on September 12 that disparaged Kirk and his mourners. The resolution highlights Kirk's advocacy for free speech and notes he was assassinated on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University while speaking.
This marks the fifth censure resolution against Omar since her 2019 entry to Congress, with Mace previously targeting her over antisemitic remarks. Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) introduced a similar measure on Monday. As a privileged resolution, Mace's motion requires the House to vote within two legislative days, bypassing typical committee review. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has not committed to a vote, stating he hasn't reviewed the measures yet.
Omar has not publicly responded to the latest resolution. The push comes amid heightened partisan tensions following Kirk's death, with President Trump also criticizing Omar on the topic.
