The suspect in the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, left behind a chilling handwritten note detailing his deadly intentions. During an interview on Fox & Friends, FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed that the note, written before the shooting, said, “I have the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.” Patel added that the note, which was initially destroyed, was recovered by forensic investigators.

According to a separate report, Robinson also confessed to the crime in a private group chat on the Discord platform. He wrote to a group of about 30 people, “Hey guys, I have some bad news for you… It was me at Utah University yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this.” This confession was reportedly sent two hours before he was taken into custody. A member of the chat group provided a screenshot to a major newspaper, and Discord itself cooperated with authorities by supplying a copy of the exchange.

Robinson had also sent similar threats via text message. Patel revealed that the suspect told another individual he would "take out Charlie Kirk" because of his "hatred of what Charlie stood for." When asked why the recipient of the text didn’t alert authorities, the FBI director admitted investigators don’t have an answer.

The details add a new layer to the case as investigators work to determine a clear motive. Utah Governor Spencer Cox has stated that Robinson is not cooperating with authorities, which has made witness accounts and digital evidence crucial to the investigation. The governor noted that the suspect appeared to hold a "leftist ideology" and had become increasingly political in recent years, often publicly criticizing Kirk.

Robinson was arrested after a 33-hour manhunt that received over 11,000 public tips. DNA evidence linked him to the scene, with matching samples found on a towel and a rifle recovered nearby. Robinson faces formal murder charges and President Trump has publicly called for the death penalty for Kirk’s alleged killer.
