Chief Rabbi of Israel Sends Condolence Letter to Charlie Kirk’s Family
In a heartfelt letter, Chief Rabbi David Yosef praised Charlie Kirk as "a true friend of the Jewish people," offering condolences to his family and condemning his murder as a "vile and cruel" act.

The Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Yosef, has sent a letter of condolences to the family of Charlie Kirk following his tragic murder last week at a debate conference at Utah Valley University. The letter, sent on Tuesday morning, praised Kirk as a dedicated ally of the Jewish people and of the State of Israel.
In his message, Rabbi Yosef lauded Kirk's character and principles. "Charlie’s great deeds and noble character made him a remarkable figure," the Chief Rabbi wrote. He noted that Kirk, in his "modest yet firm way, always chose to stand by truth and justice." The Rabbi's words highlighted Kirk's unwavering commitment to his beliefs, which resonated deeply within the Jewish community.
The letter also offered a special message of comfort to Kirk’s widow, Erika, and their two young children. Rabbi Yosef acknowledged the profound difficulty of the moment, writing, "It is hard for me to find words of comfort in such a difficult moment, a moment when the loss is felt at every instant." However, he urged the family to find consolation in the powerful legacy Kirk left behind. "The greatest consolation lies in the immense legacy Charlie left behind," the Rabbi stated, adding, "You are not alone in your mourning, many among the Jewish people grieve with you."
Rabbi Yosef concluded his letter with a strong condemnation of the act that took Kirk’s life. "This vile and cruel murder deserves condemnation from every single person," he declared. From Jerusalem, he sent his condolences, urging the family to remain strong. He finished with a blessing: "May G-d grant you and your family the strength to overcome this great tragedy and to continue his legacy for future generations."
