Report: All political activities now banned in South Korea
Following President Yoon's declaration of martial law, the command responsible for carrying it out has announced the banning of political activities in the country.
Following President Yoon's decision to declare martial law late today (Tuesday), South Korea's Martial Law Command has issued an order defining the activities that will now be banned, subject to arrest and search without warrant if violated, according to The Korea Times.
Per the order, all political activities, including the activity and organization of political parties, as well as protests and other actions, are now banned throughout the state of South Korea.
All media and publishers within South Korea are now subject to military control, and strikes and walkouts are prohibited.
The order also said that it would take steps to minimize problems for those not considered "anti-state" or "subversive."
The United States, a close ally of South Korea with almost 30,000 US troops in the country for its defense, has not yet commented on the matter.
