Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett launched a blistering attack on Israel’s government on Sunday, accusing it of prioritizing politics over the lives of its citizens and deepening national divisions instead of solving the country’s most urgent crises.

Bennett said the coalition had failed on the two goals it set for itself: bringing home the hostages and defeating Hamas. “Instead, it put politics above the lives of its citizens, drained reservists to unprecedented exhaustion, and turned most of the world against us. This is why Israel is stuck,” he declared.

Bennett argued that, to mask its failures, the coalition resorts to its “expertise” in stoking internal strife. “It creates two camps, one supposedly for the hostages but defeatist and supportive of perpetuating Hamas, and another supposedly heartless on the hostages but for victory over Hamas,” he said.

“As long as there is the appearance of two camps fighting each other, the government escapes accountability for its failures. That is why it constantly fuels internal war,” Bennett continued.

In his sharpest line, Bennett likened the coalition to a self-destructive illness: “This government is autoimmune, making the state fight against itself. Only replacing it will bring repair.”
