Anticipation is building around Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, and while rumors swirl about camera enhancements and memory boosts, the biggest question remains: When will it be available?

Apple traditionally unveils its new iPhones in early September, and this year is likely no exception. If history is any guide, the iPhone 17, along with its expected siblings, the iPhone 17 Air, Pro, and Pro Max, will be announced shortly after Labor Day.

iPhone 17 Event: What Date to Expect

Apple has consistently followed a pattern, announcing new iPhones on the first Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor Day. However, this year, Labor Day falls on Monday, September 1, making Wednesday, September 3 or Tuesday, September 9 the most probable event dates.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is leaning toward September 9 or 10 for the official reveal. Preorders would then likely begin the following Friday, either September 12 or 19, with devices landing in customers’ hands roughly a week later.

Looking Ahead to iPhone 18

Apple may shift strategies for its 2026 lineup. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, Air, and a foldable model will launch in fall 2026, while the base models will be pushed to early 2027.

This staggered release allows Apple to dominate the holiday market with its premium devices, while maintaining momentum with entry-level models later in the cycle.
