Popstar Idan Amedi Gets Real in New Documentary: “I’m Extremely Moved”
Nearly a year after being seriously wounded in Gaza, Israeli singer and reservist Idan Amedi breaks his silence in an upcoming documentary on Keshet 12, sharing his emotional road to recovery.

Nearly a year after sustaining serious injuries during combat in the Gaza Strip, acclaimed Israeli singer and reservist soldier Idan Amedi is speaking out publicly for the first time. His emotional journey will be featured in an upcoming documentary set to air next Tuesday on Keshet 12.
The film chronicles Amedi’s harrowing injury, his long rehabilitation process at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, and his gradual return to a creative life and live performances.
“A documentary is going to air next week on Keshet 12,” Amedi told his fans via Instagram Stories on Tuesday. “A team has been with me since the injury, through the complex rehab, the making of my new album, and my return to the stage.”
In the documentary, viewers will witness the deeply personal challenges Amedi faced, including damage to his hearing and the fear that he might never create or perform again.
“The promo is going live today,” Amedi added. “I’m incredibly moved. This is the first time my family is being seen, and in many ways, my story is being revealed. I’m looking forward to it. I love you, and thank you for all your messages.”
From the Battlefield to the Spotlight
Amedi was seriously wounded in January 2024 while serving as a reservist combat soldier in the IDF’s Combat Engineering Corps. He had enlisted immediately following the October 7 Hamas attacks. During an operation in Gaza, he was struck by shrapnel across his body, sedated and ventilated upon arrival at Sheba Hospital.
The upcoming documentary promises an intimate, never-before-seen look at one of Israel’s most beloved artists, not only as a singer, but as a soldier, survivor, and resilient human being.
