Zohran Mamdani condemned Israel 36 hours after October 7 massacre
Although Mamdani eventually condemned Israel, Ted Cruz sharply criticized his delayed response and failure to condemn Hamas immediately after the attack.

US Senator Ted Cruz sharply condemned NYC Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani on Thursday following Mamdani’s primary win, criticizing his anti-Israel statements.
Cruz called out Mamdani for failing to condemn Hamas on October 8, the day after the brutal massacre in which over 1,200 Israelis, including many civilians and young festivalgoers, were killed and more than 250 kidnapped. Cruz tweeted, “ON OCTOBER 8, he couldn’t bring himself to condemn Hamas, the murder of 1200 Jews, or the rape of women & little girls. Instead, he just… blamed Israel.”
Cruz quoted Mamdani’s own October 8 tweet, in which Mamdani expressed sorrow for the dead on both sides but primarily blamed Israeli actions: “Netanyahu’s declaration of war, the Israeli government’s decision to cut electricity to Gaza, and Knesset members calling for another Nakba will undoubtedly lead to more violence and suffering.” Mamdani called for ending the occupation and dismantling apartheid as the path to peace.
