Inside Israel’s Harshest Prison Wing: Where the Most Vicious Hamas Terrorists Are Held
Exclusive report unveils the ultra-secure "Rakafet" wing of Ayalon Prison, designed to hold the most dangerous Hamas operatives under strict conditions.

In a rare and exclusive report aired Monday morning on Israel’s Kan Reshet B, the curtain was lifted on the ultra-secure “Rakafet” wing of Ayalon Prison — a facility specifically designed to hold the most dangerous Hamas operatives, including members of the Nukhba and naval commando units who took part in the October 7 massacre.
This highly fortified wing, described as a “concrete vault,” is the first of its kind in Israel and is currently operating as a pilot project. Each cell is equipped with smart surveillance systems allowing for constant monitoring of every movement made by the inmates.
The commander of the wing revealed that even prison staff go by code numbers and professional titles instead of names, due to the high sensitivity of the facility. “These are prisoners who committed the most brutal crimes. Some were directly involved in the Simchat Torah massacre,” he said.
Conditions Behind Bars
A striking visual on the courtyard wall shows a large photo of destroyed Gaza, serving as a chilling reminder of the devastation that followed their acts of terror.
All legal or medical interactions are conducted within the wing itself; the prisoners do not leave the premises under any circumstance. According to prison authorities, all conditions comply with international law.
Zero Tolerance, Total Control
When guards enter the wing, a double knock signals the inmates to crouch silently, heads down and hands behind their backs, until the viewing slot in the door is closed again. “No conversation takes place at that moment,” the commander emphasized.
“Once we step into this place, we switch into full professional mode,” he said. “We went through special mental training before this wing was opened, and our team receives constant psychological and professional support.”
The Rakafet wing stands as a stark symbol of both Israel’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and its commitment to maintaining control under the highest security standards — with no leniency, no emotion, and no illusions.
