A chilling case has emerged in Jerusalem, where a 37-year-old man, already charged with murdering his mother, is now suspected of strangling another patient to death in a medical facility where he was detained. The incident, which occurred in early July 2025, initially appeared to be a natural death caused by a cardiac event, as no visible signs of trauma were evident on the victim’s body. Police and investigators, dispatched to the scene following a report to the Jerusalem police hotline, grew suspicious due to the suspect’s presence in the facility under detention for the prior matricide. The suspect, whose identity remains under a gag order, was immediately interrogated, and the victim’s body was sent for autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine after a court approved a “cause of death investigation” order. The autopsy confirmed the death resulted from strangulation, ruling it a criminal act.

Over several days of investigation, Jerusalem police made significant progress. The suspect confessed, detailing how he choked the victim in a bathroom stall. He admitted to noticing the victim’s legs protruding, preventing the door from closing, and recounted, “I pushed his legs inside with my foot, closed the door, and left.” About an hour later, a facility worker discovered the body and alerted medical staff, but resuscitation efforts failed.

The Jerusalem District Prosecutor’s Office is preparing to file a second indictment against the suspect, alongside his ongoing trial for murdering his mother in her bed months earlier. Social media posts on X expressed horror, with one user stating, “This monster killed his mom and now another patient, how was he not locked up tighter?” The case has raised questions about security protocols in medical detention facilities, with 14 reported breaches in Israeli hospitals in 2025. The suspect’s detention has been extended, with a hearing scheduled for July 24, 2025, to address the new charges.
