Tragedy in New York: Hassidic man killed in devastating head-on crash
Rabbi Mordechai Zafir lost his life while returning from a wedding; his son remains in critical condition after a horrific collision on Route 17 in Orange County.

Rabbi Mordechai Zafir, a 55-year-old member of the Vitznitz Hassidic court, tragically lost his life in a fatal car crash in New York State early Wednesday morning while returning home from a wedding in Monsey.
His son, who was traveling with him, sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Westchester Medical Center.
The head-on collision occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Route 17 in Orange County. Authorities are investigating why the second vehicle was driving in the wrong direction. The other driver was also killed in the crash.
Rabbi Zafir was remembered by those who knew him as a quiet and devoted man. Rescue teams worked through the night at the scene to handle the tragic aftermath. His son, Kalman Yehoshua, remains in serious but stable condition.
