Renowned Israeli singer Leah Shabat has stunned fans with two major personal revelations: she is engaged for the first time in her life and plans to marry soon and she has a 23-year-old son whom she kept out of the public eye.

In a heartfelt interview with journalist Avi Shoshan on the Maariv podcast, Shabat, 67, shared that she has been in a relationship for the past four years, beginning when she was 63. “This relationship came into my life at 63 and it’s a great joy,” she told Shoshan. “I had been single for many years, and now I’m in love and happy, with my partner and my two children.”

While many were aware that Shabat had one child, she surprised listeners by revealing she is actually a mother of two. Speaking about the son she never previously mentioned publicly, Shabat said: “I can’t say too much, only that he is 23 and a half, and I met him when he was six months old.”

Just a few months ago, in another podcast interview with Tzachi Eliyahu, Shabat expressed regret over not having more children, making the latest revelation even more surprising.

In addition to the personal news, earlier this month Shabat released a new musical interpretation of the well-known Psalm "Mizmor LeToda" (“A Psalm of Thanksgiving”). She explained that she felt compelled to release it during this dramatic and historic period for the country.

“I love reading Psalms,” Shabat said. “It gives me peace. I don’t always understand every word, but that doesn’t matter, the special words create a sense of closeness. The song was composed quite a while ago, and I wasn’t sure I would ever record it, but thanks to the people around me, I did.”

From her late-in-life engagement to the unveiling of a deeply private chapter, Shabat continues to touch audiences, not only through her music, but through her openness and authenticity.
