What does “frum” mean? It’s the question echoing across TikTok feeds as a growing number of users encounter content featuring visibly religious Jewish creators. “Frum”, a Yiddish term used within the Jewish community to describe someone who is religiously observant, typically Orthodox, is no longer just a niche label. Thanks to a rising wave of content creators, frum life is now finding a surprising home on one of the world’s most secular and fast-paced platforms: TikTok.

Once considered off-limits by many within religious circles, TikTok is undergoing a quiet revolution. Orthodox Jewish creators, many of them young, funny, and deeply rooted in tradition, are not just joining the platform; they’re transforming it. Through lifestyle videos, comedy sketches, and honest conversations about religious life, these users are challenging longstanding assumptions about what it means to be both devout and digitally present.

Take Jessica Mzhen, known as @JudaismWithJessica, a ba’alat teshuvah (a person who has returned to religious observance) who shares insights into her daily life as a newly married Orthodox woman. From modesty and kosher eating to the personal transformation of leaving a career in secular music, her content fosters open dialogue while staying grounded in religious values.

Another standout is the comedic duo behind @Jewcrazy, brothers-in-law Tommer and Yossi, who use satire and humor to highlight the quirks of Orthodox life. Their playful sketches bring levity and relatability to a lifestyle often misunderstood or stereotyped in mainstream media.

This wave of creators is not just about self-expression, it’s also a quiet act of resistance against online hate. While social media platforms have made strides in flagging explicit content, antisemitism, racism, homophobia, and other forms of discrimination often slip through the cracks unless users report them en masse. In that climate, the visibility of frum TikTokers becomes a powerful statement: there is space for religious life, even joyful, proud religious life, on platforms once considered hostile.

For those outside TikTok, accounts like Frum TikTok on X (formerly Twitter) curate standout content from the Orthodox creator community, amplifying their voices and showcasing the diversity within religious Jewish expression.

What began as a cultural curiosity is quickly becoming a broader movement. By blending authenticity with accessibility, frum TikTokers are not only redefining their relationship with social media—they’re also rewriting public narratives about Judaism, faith, and modern identity.
