The Prince and Princess of Wales are preparing to relocate to a new residence within Windsor Great Park later this year, moving their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, into a home that blends royal tradition with modern comfort.

The couple will take up residence in Forest Lodge, previously known as Holly Grove, an eight-bedroom property nestled among the park’s leafy expanses, just a short distance from their current home at Adelaide Cottage. A Kensington Palace spokesperson confirmed the move, telling CNN, “The Wales family will move house later this year.”

Property upgrades and history

Forest Lodge underwent a £1.5 million ($2 million) restoration in 2001 and features original stonework, ornate plaster cornices, and decorative ceilings, according to planning documents. Earlier this month, minor internal and external modifications were approved, including removal of a window and fireplace adjustments, as outlined in applications to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

The move represents another step in the family’s ongoing effort to provide stability and normalcy for their children. In 2022, then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge relocated part-time out of London during school terms to give George, Charlotte, and Louis a more typical upbringing, royal sources said at the time.

Personal milestones amid public life

The relocation comes after a challenging period for the family, during which Kate underwent chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis in March. She largely stepped back from public life during her treatment, returning gradually with public appearances last summer. In September 2024, she announced that she had completed chemotherapy and was focused on staying cancer-free.

The Windsor move not only marks a new chapter for the royal family’s living arrangements but also symbolizes a return to family-focused life after a turbulent period. With Forest Lodge’s historic charm and proximity to their current residence, the couple is set to continue balancing royal duties with private family life.
