Israel is continuing to become directly involved in trying to protect the Druze community in southern Syria, including the bombing of areas thought to be used as a threat to them and warning bombings near President Julani's residence.

Israeli policy towards the Druze combines the strategic need to create a buffer zone beyond the border to prevent terrorists from operating there and the domestic need to appease the local Druze who demand Israel protect their brethren from Jihadi terrorists or they will act on their own.
