Around ten Iranian Jews remain imprisoned by the regime, weeks after a wave of secret arrests that shook the Jewish communities of Shiraz and Tehran to their core.

Following Israel's strike on Iranian territory during Operation Rising Lion, Iranian Jews faced an atmosphere of fear and paranoia. Reports indicate that 35 Jews were initially detained, many of them vanishing without explanation. Now, with prayers and small communal gatherings cautiously resuming, efforts continue to secure the release of those still in custody.

Sources inside Iran described a community that essentially shut down overnight: Jews stayed home, avoided workplaces, and withdrew completely from public life. Families were left in the dark as rumors spread of accusations of collaboration with Israel.

According to Israel’s Kan News, the arrests weren’t limited to Jews. Members of other minority groups, Azeris, Kurds, and Baha'is, were also detained, all under suspicion of aiding the “Zionist enemy.”

Iran’s Double Standard Exposed

The arrest campaign stands in contrast to the image Iran has tried to project for years: that of a nation that respects and protects its Jewish citizens. But sources within the community now speak of unprecedented pressure, government surveillance, interrogations, and the constant fear of arrest.

Despite the ongoing repression, community leaders are quietly working behind the scenes to free the remaining detainees, while trying to restore a semblance of normalcy.
