"Life-Saving Aid" | Israel Sends Medical Supplies to Druze in Syria

In a powerful gesture of support, the Israeli Ministry of Health confirmed it delivered critical medical equipment and life-saving medications overnight (Sunday) to a hospital in Suwayda, Syria. The move follows reports of significant damage to the hospital and was aimed at aiding wounded civilians and strengthening Israel’s relationship with the local Druze population.

The delivery - facilitated by Israeli security forces and the IDF- marks a rare and humanitarian cross-border operation. Additional shipments are planned in the coming days, signaling a sustained commitment to the region.

On Saturday night, Health Ministry Director-General Moshe Bar Siman Tov met with Majdal Shams Council Head Dolan Abu Salah, local Druze physicians, and Professor Salman Zarka, Director of Ziv Medical Center, to assess needs on the ground. The delegation heard firsthand accounts from Druze doctors detailing the medical crisis in Suwayda.

Bar Siman Tov stated: "Given the State of Israel’s commitment to our Druze brothers, as demonstrated over the past week in light of the events in southern Syria, the Ministry of Health mobilized to send medical supplies and medications to ensure better treatment for the wounded and ill. This decision reflects the values that guide Israel’s healthcare system and the deep, long-standing bond with the Druze community."

The aid is part of Israel’s broader moral and strategic alliance with the Druze people, who have long served as a loyal and integral part of Israeli society.
