UAE Welcomes Fragile Ceasefire In Southern Syria
UAE: "The United Arab Emirates strongly condemns the dangerous escalation in southern Syria and strongly condemns the Israeli attacks in the region."
The UAE released a statement today (Wednesday) celebrating the ostensible ceasefire which aims to end the bloodshed in southern Syria between the Druze and government-affiliated forces, and which has cost over 300 dead, according to Kann News:
"The United Arab Emirates welcomes the announcement of the ceasefire in As-Suwayda province in southern Syria, and emphasizes the importance of maintaining calm and protecting civilians, and supports efforts to restore security and stability to the region.
"Likewise, the United Arab Emirates strongly condemns the dangerous escalation in southern Syria and strongly condemns the Israeli attacks in the region, and emphasizes its absolute opposition to the violation of Syrian sovereignty and the threat to its security and stability.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs again expresses its emphasis on the Emirates' firm position regarding Syria's stability and sovereignty over all its territory, and its standing alongside the brotherly Syrian people, and its support for all efforts aimed at fulfilling their aspirations for security, peace and dignified life, and non-violent coexistence and development."
