Magic Returns: HBO Unveils First Look at New Harry Potter TV Series
The wizarding world is being reborn for a new generation, as HBO officially releases the first images of its long-awaited television adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter saga.

Magic renaissance is on air as Harry Potter’s Hogwarts letter just arrived, AGAIN. HBO has confirmed that production is underway for its ambitious new television series based on the beloved Harry Potter franchise. The streaming giant has unveiled the first images and key cast members, signaling the start of a decade-long journey to reimagine the story of “the boy who lived”.
Leading the new generation of Hogwarts students is 11-year-old Dominic McLaughlin, who will don the iconic glasses and lightning bolt scar as Harry Potter. He is joined by Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, completing the Golden Trio. The three young actors were selected from a pool of over 30,000 children during a worldwide casting process that began last year.

Showrunner Francesca Gardiner (Succession, His Dark Materials) and executive producer/director Mark Mylod expressed their excitement in a joint statement to BBC News:
“The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.”
The ensemble cast also includes Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander. Joining them are several high-profile names: Emmy winner John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as the enigmatic Severus Snape.

The series will be filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire—the same iconic location where all eight original Harry Potter films were produced. The first season is scheduled for release in 2027, with HBO planning a ten-year rollout covering the full scope of the original seven-book series.
This project marks a major moment for fans, rekindling the magic of the wizarding world with a new cast, new storytelling approach, and a promise of deeper, more expansive exploration of Rowling’s universe.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to the story, Hogwarts is officially open again.
