Singer Mika Moshe, who rose to fame as a finalist on The Next Star for Eurovision, has released a powerful new single, Flower in the Desert, dedicated to Sivan Asraf, the soldier tragically killed at Nahal Oz base on October 7, 2023.

The song, written by Hodaya Hayut and composed by Elnatan Shalom, the team behind Mika’s earlier hit You Have Yourself, was inspired by Mika’s emotional encounter at Sivan’s memorial. The connection forged there became the foundation for this tribute.

Speaking about the release, Mika said:

“This song is for all the remarkable heroines, those who served at bases defending us, those who went out to celebrate and dance, and those who stayed sheltered in their homes during moments of terror. Flower in the Desert tells our story. It honors the lives that were, the smiles, and the souls that were never extinguished. It shines a light on memory, wrapping it in longing, love, and hope. This song is dedicated to the light of Sivan Asraf, my magnificent hero, who was killed at Nahal Oz on the morning of October 7. May her memory be blessed.”

Mika Moshe first captivated audiences on television in 2020 on Music School and later released a moving duet with Miri Mesika, You Have Yourself. That song, embraced as a feminine anthem, became a poignant part of the soundtrack during Operation Swords of Iron.

With Flower in the Desert, Mika channels her artistry into a heartfelt homage to Sivan Asraf, blending remembrance with hope as she prepares to join a military band in her next chapter.
