Exclusive: Shlomo Artzi Unveils New Song from Rock Musical “Shaul”
Israeli music legend Shlomo Artzi reveals "Come Flow With Me," the first single from his upcoming rock musical Shaul, a modern retelling of King Saul's story premiering in Tel Aviv.
Shlomo Artzi, one of Israel’s most celebrated singer-songwriters, has unveiled the first single from his upcoming rock musical Shaul, set to premiere at Heichal Shlomo Theater in Tel Aviv this November.
The single, “Come Flow With Me”, is performed by rising singer Tom Cohen and marks a pivotal moment in the musical. In the scene, a modern-day prophetess, beautiful, wise, and wounded by life, falls in love with Shaul, a moment charged with passion, pain, and hope amidst chaos, terror, and faith.
Shaul is a bold, contemporary reinterpretation of the story of King Saul, transported into a modern, electrifying world filled with motorcycles, clowns, dancers, actors, and singers. The narrative follows Shaul, a simple young man from Kfar Chittim, whose life is upended when three motorcycles are stolen from his father. His journey leads him to be crowned ruler of Beit El, thrust into a whirlpool of political intrigue, emotional turmoil, and personal discovery. A major terror attack forces a fateful encounter with the prophetess, shaping his path and testing his heart.
Music lies at the core of Shaul, blending rock and roll, contemporary spoken word, and heartfelt rock ballads into a vibrant and immersive score. The production promises a sensory spectacle of movement, dance, and musical surprises, reflecting the intensity and complexity of life today.
Artzi composed the original musical over several years, incorporating collaborations with Danny Robas and additional songs by Elad Peretz and Itamar Zohar, creating a rich tapestry of sound and emotion. With Shaul, Artzi brings a timeless story into a modern frame, combining theatrical drama with musical depth to captivate audiences across generations.
