President Donald Trump expressed shock at the Khan Younis hospital strike, learned through media reports. “This war needs to end in the next two to three weeks,” Trump stated, citing “hunger and death” but emphasizing the need to remember the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack that killed 1,200 Israelis.

He also recently claimed that “fewer than 20 hostages remain alive.” This claim sparked outrage among hostage families, prompting a swift Israeli clarification. Trump later qualified his statement, noting it was based on “rumors.” That being said, recent frightening Hamas videos of hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavksi point to their lives being in urgent danger. There have also been reports that hostage Matan Zanguaker has been refusing to eat.

The IDF is preparing for a potential large-scale reserve mobilization, with 60,000 reservists expected to report by September 2 if called. The actual Gaza op is scheduled to take place two weeks after September 2nd. Meanwhile, protests by hostage families and demonstrations across Israel show the urgency of resolving the crisis, as Hamas’ cynical use of civilians complicates Israel’s military strategy.
