Breslov Hasidim attacked while heading to Joseph’s Tomb in Shechem | WATCH
A nighttime pilgrimage turned chaotic when Arab mobs launched a violent assault on Jewish worshippers making their way to Joseph’s Tomb, forcing the army to mount an emergency rescue operation
About 30 worshippers who entered Joseph's Tomb in the city of Nablus (Shechem) last night (between Thursday and Friday) were attacked by Arabs at the site. Apparently, they were shot at and pelted with stones.
Military forces and a rescue unit joined the worshippers. So far, four lightly injured individuals have been reported and are being treated on site. An ambulance was dispatched for evacuations.
The situation could have ended with many dead and kidnapped. The worshippers who were attacked last night entered without military coordination, which required approval after the withdrawal from Nablus.
Since 2002, the IDF has allowed organized groups to visit the tomb, mainly at night, with extensive security forces deployed. Usually, these visits are held on the evening of the new month and on special days related to the Tomb of Joseph.
These days include today, the 1st of Tamuz, the day of Joseph's death, on the day dedicated to Joseph in the Counting of the Omer and during the intermediate days of Sukkot on the Ushpizin day of Joseph.
