In light of the failure of negotiations for a deal and the return of the Israeli delegation from Qatar in recent days, a new poll was presented this evening showing that a majority of the public supports defeating Hamas over surrender and immediate end to the war.

In the poll published this evening on i24news channel and produced by the Direct Polls Institute, the question was asked: "Following the failure of talks in Doha and President Trump's declaration that Hamas is not interested in reaching a partial ceasefire agreement, what do you think Israel should do now?" A large majority of 53 percent of respondents answered that Israel should now intensify the fighting in order to defeat Hamas even if this endangers the hostages' lives. This, while only 29 percent believe that Hamas's full demands for ending the war should be accepted, including remaining in power, releasing the terrorists, and IDF withdrawal from the Strip.

Among coalition voters, the majority was even larger, where 83 percent of all respondents answered that Hamas should be defeated and only seven percent believe surrender is necessary. In contrast, among opposition voters the situation is reversed. There, 51 percent believe Hamas's demands should be surrendered to, while 23 percent believe fighting should continue until its defeat and 26 percent answered that they don't know.
