IDF Spokesperson Effi Defrin gave a briefing to the press today (Sunday), outlining the IDF's current policies in the Gaza Strip and its plans for the future.

Defrin began by mourning the loss of three IDF soldiers who fell in battle in recent days, saying that the IDF is investigating every such incident to avoid future mistakes and casualties.

He also said that the IDF is working to "systematically" destroy Hamas infrastructure above and below ground and is denying the terrorist group the ability to return to any of the areas the IDF effectively controls.

Defrin stressed that there is no starvation in Gaza and that the hard images coming out of the Strip and being presented in the media were part of a false Hamas campaign to create the image of a famine that wasn't happening.

He said that the IDF is closely monitoring the nutritional situation in the Gaza Strip and has allowed for humanitarian corridors for the UN and other NGOs to pick up and deliver aid to Gazan civilians in the humanitarian zone, as well as airdrops of aid via IDF planes.

Defrin also defended the work of the Gaza Humanitarian Fund, with its four distribution points, saying that Gazans are "voting with their feet" to get free aid there, despite multiple efforts by Hamas to disrupt distribution and scare away Gazans.

The IDF Spokesperson said that the IDF is preparing plans for future operations in the Gaza Strip to be presented to the government, in a clear signal that the IDF does not seek to rest on its current accomplishments in Operation Gideon's Chariots. He reiterated that the IDF remains committed to the goals of freeing the hostages and bringing down Hamas rule.
