The IDF released the name of a soldier killed in combat in northern Gaza: Sgt. Yisrael Natan Rosenfeld, 20, of Ra’anana, a combat engineer in Battalion 601.
The incident occurred during an operation in Jabaliya, where forces from the 401st Armored Brigade were stationed inside a building. At some point, an explosion occurred , the IDF is investigating whether it was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED). One soldier was killed in the blast.
The military has launched a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
This brings the total number of IDF soldiers killed in the Iron Swords war to 880, with 30 of those falling since fighting in Gaza resumed this past March. Of those, 21 were killed by explosive devices detonated in the Strip.
Just last week, seven soldiers were killed in a deadly incident in Khan Younis, when a terrorist attached an explosive device to a Puma armored vehicle. The device detonated, setting the entire APC ablaze and killing all those inside.
