IDF attacks infamous Iranian Evin prison, hoping to release regime opponents | WATCH
Evin Prison stands as Iran’s most infamous detention facility, widely regarded as the epicenter for the incarceration of political prisoners, journalists, academics, human rights defenders, dual nationals, and foreign citizens charged with espionage or spreading propaganda.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) targeted the front gates of Evin Prison in Tehran overnight, apparently in an effort to encourage regime opponents held inside to escape. The infamous detention facility is internationally known for housing political prisoners, journalists, human rights activists, and foreign nationals, and has long been a symbol of the Islamic Republic’s repressive tactics.
In addition to the strike on Evin, Israeli forces reportedly hit key Revolutionary Guards’ internal security headquarters and bases in the city of Sig. According to current reports, no attacks have been launched on the Fordow nuclear site area.
