Trembling with Fear: Iran's Hysterical Letter Against European "Snapback" Sanctions
European powers (Britain, France, Germany) triggered the "snapback" mechanism to restore UN sanctions on Iran over nuclear violations, sparking a sharp Iranian response.

Iran has lashed out at Europe following the activation of the "snapback" mechanism to reinstate international sanctions, calling the move illegal, while Europe accuses Iran of violating the nuclear deal.
The diplomatic crisis surrounding Iran’s nuclear program is intensifying. After European powers, Britain, France, and Germany, announced the activation of the "snapback" mechanism to restore international sanctions on Tehran, Iran’s Foreign Ministry sent a sharp letter to the UN Security Council, claiming the action is "illegal and lacks legal basis."
Signed by Iran, China, and Russia, the letter accuses the European Union of "severely undermining regional stability" and engaging in a "destructive political act." Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi argued that the sanctions violate UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which enshrined the 2015 nuclear deal.
Europe rejects these claims, emphasizing that the move follows months of blatant violations by Iran, including accelerated uranium enrichment and restrictions on IAEA monitoring. "We cannot stand by as Iran advances toward military nuclear capability," European diplomats stated.
The crippling sanctions expected to take effect with the "snapback" will not only hit Iran but also impact the broader "anti-Western axis" of China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Iran supplies vast amounts of oil to China and North Korea and has become a primary arms supplier to Russia in its war in Ukraine. The panicked letter signals high anxiety among this axis, driven by the European threat.
