Historic Decision Passed: Israel Declares Sovereignty Over Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley
With support across party lines, the Knesset just erased the idea of a Palestinian state and called for full sovereignty over Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley

In a dramatic move, the Israeli Knesset passed a resolution declaring that Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley are an inseparable part of the State of Israel. The decision, backed by 71 lawmakers including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calls on the government to officially apply Israeli law, jurisdiction and administration to all Jewish communities in these territories.
The resolution passed with support from coalition parties including Likud, Shas, Religious Zionism, Otzma Yehudit, and Israel Beytenu. Several opposition MKs also voted in favor. Parties aligned with Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz abstained, while 13 MKs from Arab factions and the Democratic Party opposed the move.
The preamble of the resolution describes the territories as the “historic, cultural and spiritual homeland of the Jewish people,” highlighting cities like Hebron, Shechem, Shiloh and Beit El as living proof of uninterrupted Jewish presence in the land.
The document states that the October 7 massacre demonstrated the existential threat of a Palestinian state, and that sovereignty is now essential to Israeli security and national destiny.
“The Knesset declares that the establishment of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan would endanger Israel and its citizens, perpetuate conflict, and destabilize the region,” the resolution says. “The idea of a Palestinian state has now been officially removed from the national agenda.”
The declaration urges the Israeli government to act quickly in extending sovereignty across all forms of Jewish settlement in Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley, asserting Israel’s natural, historical and legal right to the land.
Knesset members also called on Israel’s international allies to stand with the Jewish people and support the vision of Jewish restoration in the biblical homeland.
Coalition Leaders Speak Out
Deputy Minister Meir Porush said the move would dramatically improve the lives of residents in Jewish towns across the territories, adding, “I voted based on the belief that the Land of Israel was given to us by God.”
Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Yuli Edelstein, called it a powerful Zionist response that comes exactly 20 years after the expulsion from Gush Katif and northern Samaria.
“I was pressured to back down from my views then, and I am pressured now. But I will never stop fighting for the truth, for the people of Israel, and for the Land of Israel,” Edelstein said.
