Report: Israel strike eliminated Basij intelligence chief in Tehran
Top Revolutionary Guard official Muhammad-Taqi Yousafvand killed in targeted hit.

A senior commander of Iran’s Basij intelligence network, Muhammad-Taqi Yousafvand, was reportedly killed in a powerful Israeli airstrike in Tehran on Monday, according to a report by the semi-official Iranian news agency Fars. The targeted strike marks one of the most high-profile eliminations of an Iranian intelligence figure.
Yousafvand served as the intelligence chief of the Basij, a paramilitary wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The Basij is a key tool of domestic control for the regime, tasked with suppressing dissent, arresting opposition figures, and breaking up protests. Its intelligence branch plays a central role in monitoring what the regime defines as “hostile elements” within Iran, from reformist activists to suspected foreign collaborators.
The Basij have been a major target of the IDF; just 3 days ago the IAF targeted the Imam Hussein University compound, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian cyber police headquarters. Iranian media claimed an Israeli drone was used in the Tehran attack. Additional strikes hit the Basij militia headquarters in Behbahan, southwestern Iran, and a burning oil terminal in Mashhad.
